This is gonna be the Best Day

When you think back over the course of your lifetime – can you point to a day or two that would fit into the ‘best day of your life’ category? What if everyday was the best day of your life?

Meet the world’s oldest yoga teacher — 96 year-young Tao Porchon-Lynch. Tao marched with Gandhi in the 1930s, fought in the French Resistance in the ’40s, hobnobbed in Hollywood in the ’50s, took up competitive ballroom dancing at the age of 87 and she’s still going strong.

When asked what her secret was… Tao answered; “When I get up in the morning, I don’t think about all the things that are going to happen, whether it’s good or bad. I say to myself, ‘This is going to be the best day of my life.’ ”

If you were given a choice of quantity of life vs quality of life – which do you choose? I agree – it’s a difficult choice. Most all of us would like to maximize our days on earth – yet we want them to be days that evoke happiness, days that feel productive, or at least days that consist of good health. People are faced with the most difficult question of quantity vs quality of life everyday — and for some it can be the decision of a lifetime.

The brink of an idea! Tao is on to something here. It all starts with gratitude… which directly impacts your attitude. Tao has a great attitude — that’s half the battle my friends – it is probably more like seventy-five percent of the battle. If we could each follow Tao’s example and tell ourselves every single morning without fail…

…I have to believe we would all be in a better place. At the very least – it’s a great place to start. I’m going to start tomorrow – I hope you will too.
